Opinion: Keeping healthcare on track

The 2010 healthcare law was supposed to be fully implemented on Jan. 1, 2014, but the Obama administration has pushed back several of the law's requirements to give regulators and the public more time to prepare. Some critics have seized on the delays as a sign that the law is collapsing under its own weight, but that's wishful thinking on their part. Though the implementation challenges are real, there's no compelling reason at this point to think the reforms slated to begin next year can't be made to work. The most significant rollback was announced last week, when the Treasury Department said it would not enforce until 2015 the requirement that employers with at least 50 full-time workers provide them with affordable coverage.
