UnitedHealth CEO's $102 million pay prompts Connecticut AG to target rate increases

The $102 million pay package for UnitedHealth Group CEO Stephen Hemsley has drawn the attention of Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who is asking the state insurance department to consider executive pay when insurers ask for rate increases. Hemsley, according to an April 14 government filing, made $102 million in compensation and exercised stock options last year, more than 10 times the $9.47 million he made the year before. The majority of the pay increase was value realized on exercised stock options.
