WellPoint Inc. will cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for breast-removal surgery on cancer patients, eliminating the possibility of "drive-through mastectomies" for the health insurer's members. WellPoint's policy takes effect July 1, although 20 states currently have laws requiring insurers to cover at least a minimum amount of hospitalization time for mastectomy patients.
