Beaumont (MI) Hospitals has eliminated about 60 managerial and administrator positions since the fall---a number higher than originally announced---and is also cutting an unspecified number of staff employees, a hospital official said. The three-hospital system announced in October that it planned to lay off 40-50 managers as part of a reorganization triggered by federal health care reform; the move would save an estimated $3 million to $4million a year, officials said. The reductions exceed the number previously announced as a result of the continuing review of the system's organizational structure, a hospital official said.
