Physician-entrepreneur Mark Rogers resigned Tuesday from the governing board of the troubled Jackson Health System, fed up that the board has failed to make significant changes to the system, -- which he predicted will "fail shortly." Rogers, former CEO of Duke University Hospital, is the only member of the Public Health Trust with hospital administrative experience. He started on the board six months ago. In a letter to his 16 colleagues, he wrote, "The enormous time and effort spent on the PHT do not result in any meaningful changes for Jackson and a new way for the PHT to function has to be found. Jackson is going to fail shortly and the PHT is not organized to deal properly with this threat. My analysis is that Jackson is in mortal danger and requires swift and insightful change."
