Miami-Dade County commissioners took a step toward removing the current Public Health Trust, approving a measure that allows them to remove the hospital's governing board and replace it with a new seven-person panel if Jackson Health System's finances worsen. Supporters called the move a necessary tool to quickly put a new governing board in place should the public hospital's situation deteriorate, the Miami Herald reports.
