Opinion: Hospital CEO pay—The real issue is charity care

If your hospital's CEO makes $800,000 a year, does that invalidate the hospital's nonprofit status? Attorney General Michael DeLaney seems to be building a case that it should. He'd do much better to focus on another factor instead. Last week, Delaney held a press conference to highlight a new report from the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies. One could make an ethical case that nonprofit organizations should pay their top executives the smallest percentage of their revenue that is practical so more can go to charitable work. But a legal case?
