Patients, staff told TX rehab hospital closing immediately

Patients and staff at a Plano rehabilitation hospital were scrambling Wednesday after being told the facility was closing immediately. Officials at Integra Hospital Plano declined to comment, but a nurse confirmed a patient's account that the 73-bed hospital was closing, that the staff had been fired, and that patients had until the end of the day to find a place to go. In the parking lot, staff members were putting belongings into their cars, and nursing recruiters were talking to those who had just lost their jobs. Integra was purchased in 2009 along with a Louisiana hospital by Rockwall Hospitals Inc. The Plano hospital's previous owner, Integra Hospital Management LLC, had filed for bankruptcy in late 2008. The telephone number listed on a Rockwall Hospitals website isn't working, and the Richardson office suite listed as its headquarters is vacant.
