University Hospitals expanded its footprint in Northeast Ohio last year after acquiring two of the remaining independent hospitals in the area, and continued to grow in a challenging healthcare market, the health system's Chief Executive Thomas F. Zenty III said Tuesday. "We feel that we're stronger than ever," Zenty told about 300 people gathered for his annual "State of the System" address at the Global Center for Health Innovation in Cleveland. University Hospitals employs more than 14,800 non-physicians and 3,300 doctors. The health system reported a 3.5 percent increase in revenue from operations, to $2.3 billion, from $2.2 billion in 2012.
