Washington Health System chooses UPMC for cardiac surgery

Washington Health System has dropped cardiac surgery services from Allegheny Health Network-affiliated group in favor of a new agreement with UPMC. WHS heart surgeons were joined by four surgeons from UPMC's Heart and Vascular Institute as part of the contract between WHS and UPMC, which Thomas Gleason, chief of UPMC's division of cardiac surgery, said "markedly expands" heart care to residents of Washington and Greene counties.
