A new electronic record system at University of Iowa Hospitals is generating backlash from doctors, nurses, and staff complaining of increased work. The $61 million system, which is supposed to improve efficiency and patient safety, was necessary to keep pace with changing regulations, said Lee Carmen, chief information officer. But the complexity of the new system and the rapid rollout have been a problem for some, Carmen told the Des Moines Register.
