Putting a dollar figure on a doctor's worth to a hospital

What's a doctor worth to a hospital in terms of annual revenue? The answer averages about $1.54 million a year, based on 114 U.S. hospital responding to a survey by physician recruiters Merritt Hawkins. That's up slightly from the $1.5 million a year per doctors that hospitals averaged in revenue in 2007, the last time Merritt Hawkins took the survey. Merritt Hawkins also asked about revenue generation in the last 12 months by 17 doctor specialties.
