In February 2018, Stephen Swett went to the emergency room at Westchester Medical Center in New York seeking help for withdrawal from Suboxone, which treats opioid addiction. Swett — a 44-year old truck driver — says he sat on a gurney until he was discharged. Then in June of last year, the hospital filed a court summons, the beginning of its attempt to collect the $2,539.43 it said Swett owed for his trip.
Cano Health Inc. has acquired University Health Care and its affiliates for $600 million. Cano said the acquisition would improve health outcomes for University patients while strengthening the company's position in the Florida market. Cano Health now estimates full year 2021 adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, deprecitation and amoritization at $100 million to $110 million and reaffirmed its full year 2021 membership guidance of 154,000 to 162,000 members and revenue guidance of $1.4 billion to $1.5 billion.
