MU Health Care is meeting financial goals set at the UM System Board of Curators’ last Health Affairs Committee meeting. Among the committee’s goals was to have a $45 million operating margin. Projections show that MU will hit this goal, and perhaps surpass it by June, Chief Financial Officer Dustin Thomas said.
Fresno County once again wants to find a buyer for the abandoned University Medical Center hospital in southeast Fresno. The old UMC campus located on East Kings Canyon Road and South Cedar Avenue is again for sale for an asking price of $6 million. The sale of the property comes nearly five years after a deal to sell the property resulted in criminal charges for a former county staffer.
CHI Mercy Health has announced that they are making several job cuts and closing their Home Health service line. Mercy Health said the job cuts will affect about 50 of their total 1,200 employees in Douglas County. The Home Health service line provided comprehensive health care to people in their homes or in foster homes.
