A mechanism that led some patients to experience cases of deadly clotting following some types of COVID-19 vaccination has been identified in new research.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said on Monday that he expects about 17% of the U.S. population to get updated COVID-19 vaccines during the current vaccination campaign, in-line with last year.
The funding, through the Administration for Strategic Planning and Response, includes three next-generation vaccines and allows the developers to more quickly start phase 2 clinical trials.
More than 7 million Americans had rolled up their sleeves for the updated COVID-19 vaccines, according to HHS, despite reports that some people are still finding it difficult to book vaccination appointments or find the shots at no cost.
