GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks-based health system on Tuesday announced it is working with a large insurance provider to offer what it calls "first-of-its-kind" health care coverage. According to an announcement from Altru Health System, the new four-tiered DakotaBlue-Altru plan is being launched in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.
Providers and payers are skeptical that the program will improve the quality of care for those not enrolled — including access to doctors, one of the biggest challenges for Medi-Cal patients in South Los Angeles.
By next year, half of Medicare beneficiaries will have a private Medicare Advantage plan. Most large insurers in the program have been accused in court of fraud.
