A long and arduous contract negotiation between Cayuga Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and 1199SEIU Healthcare Workers East has reached an end.
Workers at Cayuga Nursing & Rehabilitation Center voted to accept a three-year contract that raised the starting wages of workers at the facility, preserved healthcare and pension benefits, and added built-in wage increases.
Heritage Hall North, a nursing facility in Agawam, Massachusetts, announced that it has begun partnering with national rehabilitation services company Powerback Rehabilitation, one of the largest in the country.
Through comprehensive rehabilitation therapy programs, technology, and services, the partnership aims to improve the quality of life for Heritage Hall North's patients and residents.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed legislation Tuesday that will pump an additional $700 million annually into Medicaid-funded nursing homes, provided they use that money to increase staff and wages in their facilities.
"This is truly a game changer," Pritzker said at a bill signing ceremony at a Chicago-area nursing home. "… Together we've delivered a victory for the communities of residents that you serve."
