The war of statistics raged on Monday between CNN and St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach over the news network reporting of nine infant deaths following surgery at the hospital's four-year-old pediatric cardiac surgery program. Florida Agency for Health Care Administration jumped feet first into the fray, releasing its own news release criticizing CNN for its "sensationalized reporting." AHCA said CNN failed to note that the agency had investigated the hospital when in fact it had made five site visits over the last six months. AHCA said it has received one complaint concerning St. Mary's pediatric cardiac program, which was investigated in October 2012.
