A $120 million state hospital will be built on Indianapolis’ Eastside to treat psychiatric illnesses and addiction, ushering in a new statewide approach to mental health problems, Gov. Mike Pence announced Wednesday. The Indiana Neuro-Diagnostic Institute will focus on accurately diagnosing problems early in illnesses, effectively treating and stabilizing those illnesses, and then supporting patients as they follow up with community-based care, state officials said. Built on the campus of Community Hospital East at 1500 N. Ritter Ave., the institute will offer patients direct access to any medical assistance that they require. Telemedicine services also will allow for offsite treatment and providers around the state to consult with one another.
