Centene moves closer toward closing Health Net deal

Centene Corp. has received approval for its Health Net acquisition from a pair of California state regulatory agencies. The approval from the California Department of Managed Health Care earlier Tuesday was followed by approval from the California Department of Insurance in the afternoon. Before the insurance department's approval was announced, Centene said in a press release that it expected "to close the transaction shortly" after it obtained that agency's OK.
