HCA Inc. must pay the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City $161.9 million to fulfill obligations it accepted by buying Health Midwest, a Jackson County judge ruled Thursday. HCF filed the lawsuit in 2009. It claimed that HCA's Kansas City arm, HCA Midwest Health System, built new hospitals instead of making promised improvements to Health Midwest facilities.
