Humana to cut 2,500 positions in 2010

Insurer Humana Inc. has announced it will cut 2,500 jobs nationwide this year while adding about 1,100 jobs in areas where officials expect to grow its business. The reductions will be made through a combination of attrition, process efficiencies, outsourcing and position eliminations. The new jobs are expected in areas such as medical-cost containment capabilities, pharmacy management, and specialty products.
