Insurance change bars thousands of patients from Atlanta-based Grady Memorial

Thousands of patients at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta must find new doctors and a new medical center because a Medicaid insurer has terminated its contract with the hospital. The disruption of patient care is the result of failed efforts to renew the contract between Grady and Peach State Health Plan, which culminated when the parties severed their relationship on Jan. 1. Patient advocates are concerned some patients will miss care as they search for a new provider, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
