A report says Wisconsin hospitals paid the state $382 million more in the first year of a new tax on their revenues. Department of Health Services Secretary Karen Timberlake says the tax has been a great success because it allowed the state to collect $1.65 in federal reimbursements for Medicaid for every $1 taxed. She added that means hospitals received $582 million in increased Medicaid payments—far more than they were taxed, the Associated Press reports.
