After years of enrollment growth and favorable publicity, Medicare Advantage (MA) has faced a series of challenges this year, including lower contractual yields and issues with claims denials for providers, and CMS rate cuts and lower Star Ratings for participating plans. These challenges and others have led to losses for some providers, and some organizations are ending or curtailing their participation in MA. However, there are signs that the incoming administration may take regulatory stances that are beneficial to the MA program, which may create opportunities for enhanced payer-provider MA partnerships.
