Medicare chief asked taxpayers to cover stolen jewelry

CMS Administrator Seema Verma filed a $47,000 claim that sought a taxpayer-funded reimbursement for the costs of jewelry, clothing and other possessions, including a $5,900 Ivanka Trump-brand pendant, that were stolen while in her luggage during a 2018 work-related trip to San Francisco, according to documents obtained by POLITICO.
