A federal judge found the former for-profit operator of Yadkin County's hospital in contempt on Tuesday, ordering it to pay damages for violating a state Superior Court temporary restraining order. Judge Terrence Boyle ruled that CAH Acquisition Co. 10 LLC will pay damages from May 22, when it shut down Yadkin Valley Community Hospital, until the hospital is reopened. Boyle made his ruling after a hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of N.C. in Edenton. "We are extremely pleased for the citizens of Yadkin County that the court ruling will enable the county to move forward to returning health care for our citizens," commission Chairman Kevin Austin said in a statement.
