N.J. Health officials are warning nursing homes to stop using pre-filled saline products because of possible contamination with drug-resistant bacteria. So far the N.J. Department of Health has identified two possible cases of infection by the Burkholderiacepacia bacteria, which has become resistant to many antibiotics. All nursing homes that stock the product have been notified to avoid its use, but the department warns that "since this is a rapidly evolving situation, not all distribution networks have been identified, and it is unclear at this time that all the affected products have been identified."
