The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act eliminated the individual health insurance mandate penalties contained in the Affordable Care Act. Twenty state attorneys general then sued in the U.S. District Court of Northern Texas, claiming that by eliminating the penalties, Obamacare was now entirely unconstitutional.
