Pottstown Hospital nurses and the community are dismayed at the Tower Health decision to close the maternity ward

The Pottstown maternity ward closure was announced June 16 as part of an overall layoff of 1,000 employees, or 8% of the 12,233 employees in the Tower Health network. The ward is being closed as a result of financial hardships caused during the coronavirus outbreak, coupled with declining births and lack of a neonatal intensive care unit, Tower health said.
