Highmark President and CEO Dr. Ken Melani on Wednesday said there would be "chaos in southwest Pennsylvania" if the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center University of Pittsburgh Medical Center ends its contract with the health insurance giant next year. The insurer dominates the region's health insurance market and is locked in a contract dispute with UPMC, which controls most of the doctors and hospitals in the region. Melani was testifying before the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, the third hearing on the issue since September.
