MI Attorney General reviewing sale of St. Joseph Mercy to Prime Healthcare

The state attorney general's office is in the early stages of a four- to six-month review of the sale of St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron to California-based Prime Healthcare Services. Trinity Health and Prime announced Nov. 20 a definitive agreement was reached over the sale of the Port Huron hospital to Prime. The attorney general's consent or lack of objection is one of the conditions of the sale. An objection would stop the sale. Pending approval, Trinity and Prime would close the sale in the next four to six months. A public forum regarding the sale will be held within the next six to eight weeks, but a date has not been set.
