Earlier this summer, a Giant grocery store in Bowie added camp physicals and walk-in appointments for minor infections to its available products. It's not Giant actually running the walk-in retail clinic, but Anne Arundel Medical Center in yet another iteration of the growing number of retail-health care partnerships in the Washington region this summer. AAMC partnered with FastCare, a not-for-profit branch of Ballin Health System, which has been bringing hospitals and retailers together, to create the Bowie clinic. Last month, CVS/pharmacy and its Minute Clinics announced an affiliation with MedStar Health. And in July, Children's National Medical Center announced a new Walgreens Pharmacy had opened inside its lobby.
