Lori Dove, RN, has joined Scotland Health Care System as vice president of Quality and Resource Management. In her new role she has executive responsibility over the Quality, Resource Management, Risk Management, Patient Safety and Infection Control, Customer and Volunteer Services, Pharmacy, and Medical Staff services.
Trinity Medical Center removed the interim label from Keith Granger's title and appointed him president/CEO, the Birmingham Business Journal reports. The move is effective immediately, according to a news release. Granger joined Trinity as interim CEO in October 2009 to lead the hospital's daily operations. Granger previously served as CEO of Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Trinity Medical Center and Flowers Hospital are both affiliated with Tennessee-based Community Health Systems Inc. Granger succeeded Bill Heburn as CEO last year.
Athens-Limestone Hospital officials have announced the new chief executive officer is Kelli S. Powers. Jim Moffatt, chairman of the hospital's Board of Directors, said that to his knowledge, she is the first female hospital CEO in North Alabama, the Decatur Daily reports. Powers is leaving Lanier Health Services, where she served as CEO/CFO. Powers is filling a spot left vacant in December when CEO Cary Payne retired. Payne had served as CEO since January 2007.
Moody L. Chisholm, Jr., has been named president/CEO for St. Vincent's HealthCare in Jacksonville, FL, effective April 5, 2010. Moody replaces interim President/CEO Howard Watts, who will remain with the organization during the transition. Most recently, Chisholm served as CEO of Manatee Healthcare System and vice president of the Acute Care Division of Universal Health Services.
Robert A. Petzel, MD, has taken the oath of office as the Under Secretary for Health within the Department of Veterans Affairs, stepping up to lead the nation's largest integrated healthcare system. Petzel had been Acting Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Health since May 2009. Previously, he directed one of VA's 21 geographic healthcare networks covering eight medical centers and 42 community based outpatient clinics serving veterans in seven Midwestern states.
WellCare Health Plans Inc. has announced William Trubeck and Paul Weaver were appointed to its board of directors, the Tampa Business Journal reports. Trubeck most recently was a top executive at H&R Block, Inc., and Weaver is a former vice chairman at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
