PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island's two major hospital groups struggled financially over the last year, according to newly released annual reports that reveal large losses at the organizations.
According to the MNA, the three-year contracts for nurses in the Twin Cities and Twin Ports include language to address understaffing, one of the union's main negotiation points. The tentative agreements also include 18% pay raises for Twin Cities nurses and 17% raises for nurses in the Twin Ports.
Much of the health spending will go towards renovations at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, the Saint John Regional Hospital and the Moncton Hospital.
