The State Medical Board has acknowledged for the first time that it has confidential records about a complaint investigation involving Ohio State University team doctor who is accused of widespread sexual misconduct against students decades ago. The documents can't be viewed by the law firm investigating allegations that Richard Strauss abused scores of male student-athletes in the 1980s and 1990s, but still might help guide its inquiry.

Gallup's annual Health and Healthcare poll once again finds roughly three in 10 Americans reporting they held off seeking some kind of medical treatment in the past year due to costs. Today's 29% saying they did this is consistent with the rate seen each year since 2005 but is up from an average 24% in the four years prior to that -- from 2001-2004 -- and from 22% in 1991.
An epidemic of addiction to opioids swept the nation, claiming thousands of lives in the commonwealth of Virginia in 2016. A local doctor is using a fairly new treatment to lower his patients risk of addiction. Every day, more than 115 people die from the opioid epidemic. Many affected originally got started from prescription opioids like those given after major surgery.
Grand Valley State University is partnering with The Dwelling Place and the Grand Rapids Housing Commission to provide onsite health care to senior citizens living in low-income housing. Grand Valley recently received a two-year, $493,690 grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund for the initiative.
