Henry Ford Health System officials are helping to provide new visas for Canadian nurses who work at the Detroit hospital system and have been turned away at the U.S.-Canada border, apparently due to new federal immigration and travel policy.
A bill that would give advance-practice registered nurses the ability to work without the supervision of a physician is being vigorously opposed by the South Carolina medical association. Nurses say the bill could increase healthcare access in a state plagued by provider shortages while doctors say they're concerned with patient safety if there's no physician oversight.

Nurses at a suburban Philadelphia hospital have begun a two-day walkout over staffing levels and other issues. The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals said the strike Sunday and Monday by 370 nurses and technical staff at Delaware County Memorial Hospital will be followed by a three-day lockout.
