Lehigh Valley Health Network and the insurance giant Aetna have reached an agreement that will allow Aetna members to continue to receive care throughout the health network, LVHN announced Thursday afternoon.
DeWITT, N.Y. — Excellus BlueCross BlueShield announced that it has named Lisa White chief administrative officer and executive VP. With this appointment, White has also joined the health insurer’s executive-leadership team.
The refusal of Republican state lawmakers to expand Medicaid in Florida has been a decadelong frustration for health care advocates and others in a state where 2.4 million people have no health insurance. Expanding the federal program, which provides health insurance to low-income and disabled people, would make an estimated 900,000 Floridians eligible, or more than 4% of the state’s population.
Dozens of patients and health care advocates protested by Elevance Health’s headquarters in Indianapolis on Monday to demand the health insurance giant stop denying insurance claims and be more transparent about its processes. Protesters carried signs that read “No deaths for insurance greed” and “Who are you to decide if we live or die?”
Congress approved in August a $35 cap on what seniors will pay for insulin as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, along with free vaccines and other Medicare improvements. But the change came too late to add to the Medicare plan finder.
