Senior Helpers, the nation’s premier provider of personalized, in-home senior care, today announced the official opening of the Senior Helpers Center of Excellence in Caregiving at its Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. The Center of Excellence in Caregiving will open to the public on September 28 and serve as a comprehensive training facility where Senior Helpers-certified caregivers, family caregivers and members of the community who assist the elderly can expand their skills and knowledge of administering specialized care that is designed to meet the needs and requirements of senior citizens at various stages of aging.
The Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna/Tioga Area Agency on Aging recently held an in-service training session for Senior Companion volunteers from the Senior Companion Program. Two of the Senior Companions, Sharon English and Geraldine Learn, serve several seniors 60 or older in Tioga County helping them to remain independent. Senior Companions provide a friendly visit and companionship for lonely, isolated or disabled seniors. The Senior Companion Program is recruiting for Senior Companion volunteers age 55 and older who enjoy working with other seniors and are income eligible to serve as companions for those most vulnerable seniors in the region.
Samaritan Health Services hospital CEOs Marty Cahill and Dr. Lesley Ogden traveled to Washington, D.C., last month to meet with federal elected officials and to advocate for small and rural hospitals in Oregon. Cahill is CEO of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, while Ogden is CEO of Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City and Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport — all three of which are critical access hospitals.
A Wisconsin health system is suing Republican candidate for governor Tim Michels alleging his campaign refused to stop using the system's logo in campaign ads without consent, potentially jeopardizing the system's status as a tax-exempt organization. Froedtert Health Inc. is a not-for-profit organization and is barred from engaging in political activity as a condition of its tax-exempt status.
