Most people ages 65 and older who haven't yet been vaccinated say they don't have enough information about when and where they will be able to get vaccinated, according to a report from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Most older adults—who are a high-priority group for getting a COVID-19 vaccine—don't know much about when and where they can get vaccinated.
Most people ages 65 and older who haven't yet been vaccinated say they don't have enough information about when (58%) and where (59%) they will be able to get vaccinated, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation's most recent COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor report.
These awareness issues also stretch beyond older adults, the report shows.
For instance, although 55% of essential workers say they have enough information about where to get a vaccine, the same percentage (55%) also say they don't have enough information about when they will be able to get vaccinated.
Those knowledge gaps are also pronounced when examining the data through racial and income lenses. Black and Hispanic adults, as well as low-income households, are among the groups least likely to say they have enough information.
Within each group, at least two thirds say that they do not have enough information about when they can get vaccinated, and at least six in 10 say they don't have enough information about where to get vaccinated.
Other recent research shows that awareness of when and where people can get vaccinated isn't the only thing standing in the way of people's vaccine access.
The National Poll on Healthy Aging finds that older adults—who are among the first in line to receive their COVID-19 vaccines—often don't have access to patient portals.
It finds that 45% of adults aged 65 to 80, and 42% of all adults aged 50 to 80, said they had not set up an account with their health provider's portal system.
