The new merged system, Nuvance Health, will account for $2.4 billion in revenues across New York and Connecticut.

Health Quest Systems Inc. and Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) announced Wednesday that they have merged.

The new nonprofit health system, Nuvance Health, will employ about 12,000 people at seven hospitals across New York and Connecticut, totalling $2.4 billion in annual revenues. This incorporates four hospitals under Health Quest and three under WCHN.

Nuvance Health will service approximately 1.5 million residents throughout the Hudson Valley and western portion of Connecticut.

The announcement came just over a year after the systems, based in LaGrangeville, New York and Danbury, Connecticut respectively, formally agreed to create a new health system.

Dr. John M. Murphy, CEO of WCHN, will serve as CEO of the new merged company while Robert Friedberg, CEO of Health Quest, will serve as president. They will oversee a 16-member board comprised of eight members from Health Quest and eight members from WCHN.

“Our patients and communities are the heart of efforts to form the new health system. We are steadfastly focused on how we can improve the health and well-being of the people we passionately serve,” Murphy said in a statement. “Through the new integrated health system, we will be able to attract top clinical talent in order to provide even more advanced, compassionate and collaborative care.”

Clarification: This story has been updated to clarify that the planned merger has, in fact, been completed, according to the organization's press release.
