Franklin Hospital (IL) hospitalist seeks forensic audit

Three weeks after his client’s contract was terminated, reportedly for financial reasons, an attorney for Dr. Tim Morthland asked Franklin Hospital directors this week to authorize a forensic audit that Morthland believes would dispel administration assertions that the contract was losing money for the hospital. Morthland, the hospitalist for the taxpayer-funded medical center until July 31, after his contract was terminated Feb. 1 with six-months notice, offered to pay half the fee of the independent audit through his clinic, West Frankfort-based Morthland College Health Services, which was part of the contract.
