Gov. Newsom devotes State of the State to homelessness, calls crisis 'a disgrace'

Gov. Gavin Newsom devoted most of his second State of the State address Wednesday to California’s homelessness crisis, acknowledging the urgency of what has become the biggest concern for Californians. “No amount of progress can camouflage the most pernicious crisis in our midst, that's the ultimate manifestation of poverty: homelessness,” Newsom told the full California Legislature in the Assembly chambers.
