Opinion: Baylor Health System, Tenet Healthcare embrace Obamacare

What crisis? For all the drama and uncertainty in Washington, two major hospital companies in Dallas are proceeding as if Obamacare is here to stay. Baylor Health System and Tenet Healthcare Corp. are steaming ahead with big mergers driven, in part, by the Affordable Care Act. Baylor and Scott & White Healthcare of Temple closed on their merger Monday. Tenet's $4.3 billion deal with Vanguard Health Systems of Tennessee is expected to wrap up early this month. The fight over Obamacare and the government shutdown may give the impression that the health law is in trouble. Baylor and Tenet provide an alternate view, as do other developments.
