Utah State Hospital is making progress in its effort to cut down the wait times for people to undergo mental health treatment before they can stand trial, officials told lawmakers this week. The wait averaged 23 days in September, down from July, hospital superintendent Dallas Earnshaw told lawmakers on Tuesday.
USC said Friday it has reached an “agreement in principle” to pay $215 million to patients treated by Dr. George Tyndall, the longtime campus gynecologist accused of abusing and sexually harassing scores of young women. The proposal would provide at a minimum of $2,500 to every student who ever saw Tyndall at the campus health clinic, and up to $250,000 to students who alleged they were abused by him.
For almost 30 years, parents sought out Dr. Reginald Archibald when their children would not grow. They came to his clinic at The Rockefeller University Hospital, a prominent New York research institution, where he treated and studied children who were small for their age. He also may have sexually abused many of them.

An Arizona medical group rescinded its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko on Thursday after the Republican again called into question the professional legitimacy of her Democratic challenger, who is a physician. The Arizona Medical Association did not endorse Hiral Tipirneni, a former emergency-room doctor who now works as a cancer-research advocate, but it did take back an endorsement for what it said was the first time in its history.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer for men in the U.S.(other than non-melanoma skin cancer) and one of the most deadly. It's especially deadly for black men, who are more likely to get it and twice as likely as white men to die from it. Yet black men tend to be underrepresented in research for prostate cancer treatment.
