Large numbers of Ohio nurses say they are leaving bedside care because of being overworked, survey finds

More than 60% of Ohio nurses who left bedside care did so because of a heavy patient load, and about 65% of bedside nurses have experienced workplace violence in the last 12 months, according to a new statewide survey conducted by the Ohio Nurses Association.

The survey looked at the impact of understaffing in Ohioโ€™s hospitals, and called on healthcare executives and policymakers to take swift action to protect patients and ensure the well-being of nurses and health professionals, the association said.
