Massachusetts Senate approves bill to rein in healthcare costs

Lawmakers in the Massachusetts Senate are backing a bill to rein in healthcare costs to help pay for the state's universal healthcare law. Among other provisions, the bill would require the state to adopt a statewide electronic medical record system and set up uniform billing among healthcare providers and insurance companies. The reforms are expected to save the state hundreds of millions of dollars.
