After more than five years of construction, University Hospital is ready to open for patients on Sunday, February 22. The 1.9-million-square-foot, 820-room hospital is the latest addition to the sprawling campus of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Built directly next door to the 21-story James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (which was completed in 2014), the two buildings are completely integrated – connected on each floor, so that they essentially function as one large building. Other buildings on the campus – and some of the roads connecting them – are getting name changes as the new building opens.
