Oak Park West Suburban hospital closes doors after Resilience Health suspension announcement

West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park officially closed Friday. ABC7 Chicago spoke with some patients who say they found out Thursday the hospital was shutting its doors. Dr. Manoj Prasad, the CEO of Resilience Health, announced Wednesday that operations at West Suburban, in addition to Weiss Hospital in Uptown, were being suspended until a problem with the billing system is fixed. The Oak Park hospital, founded in 1914 and known for robust training and care in previous years, ceased operations Friday. West Suburban hospital has been busy with people coming and going, including first responders to transporting patients to other hospitals. The sudden closure leaves nearby healthcare providers wondering how they will be impacted. A spokesperson for RUSH Oak Park confirms staff there are preparing for more patients.
